Finish What You Start

If you ask God for help resolving your issues but choose your own method for resolving them, chances are you’ll be asking Him to get you out of another jam.

Luke 6:46 “Why do you call me Lord, Lord and do not do what I say?”

God told Jonah to preach repentance to the people of Ninevah but Jonah was so repulsed by their wickedness till he wanted nothing to do with them much less help them. He hopped on the nearest ship and ran away.  God could’ve wiped His hands of Jonah but our patient Heavenly Father wanted Jonah to finish the job he was assigned.

Imagine Jonah’s fear as his shipmates threw him overboard. God still had a plan for Jonah so He sent a gigantic fish to swallow him. Sometimes God has to take drastic measures to get our attention.

You might be angry or even repulsed by what’s going on in your family life right now. Running away sounds like a great idea. Maybe not physically running away like Jonah, but turning away from God and going your own direction. God has already carved out the best possible life for you. No matter what setbacks come your way, whatever the storm, God does not change the plans He has for you.

Encouragement:

You may not have any say with what your parents are doing right now but you can control your actions and reactions. If chaos is swirling around your home life and you don’t understand what God is doing, draw close to Him. Don’t pull away. His perfect plan for your life does not change. Stay the course and I promise you’ll never regret it.

Know I’m praying for you,

Sherry
